Ye Hai Meri Kahani!!

An amazing and one of my favourite song.

This song is from movie "Zinda" (2006) by director Sanjay Gupta which is know for his own style and music. This song is composed and sung by Strings and lyrics by Anwar Maqsood (this is new name for me). A very very stylish and powerful song with intense composition. The lyrics of Anwar Maqsood are definitely blank verse, and if you have seen the movie it fits very well in the situational relevance of the film, but it becomes really interesting because of the way the popular Pakistani duo (Pakistani band Strings' Faisal Kapadia and Bilaal Maqsood) who have dressed up non-rhyming lines and wrapped them in a nice way with the great use of instruments particularly drums and electric guitar. The opening music gives you an "haunting" feeling. The lines are poetic and vibrant! Strings’ vocals are a high point, and the non-rhyming, uptempo song grows upon you with every passing minute. The poetry in the spoken verse is exceptional:

Bajai pyaar ki shabnam
Meri Gulistan me
Baraste rahte hai
Har simt Maut ke saye
Syahiyo se ulajh padti hai meri aankhe
Koi nahi, koi bhi nahi
Jo batlaye mai kitni der
Ujalo ki rah dekhunga
koi nahi, hai koi bhi nahi
Na paas, na door
Ek yaar hai dil ki dhadkan
Apni chahat ka jo elaan kiye jati hai
Zindagi hai jo jiye jaati hai
Khoon ke ghoont piye jati hai
Khwaab kaanto se siye jati hai

I think the way it was narrated, makes it excellent. Simply awesome!!

This song makes me a fan of Strings and the very next song "Ye akhri alvida" from "Shootout at Lokhandwala" (2007) is also I considered to be of the same class.

Now I am waiting for Sanjay Gupta's next in the hope that it will again have such a gem of Strings' performance.

Complete lyrics:

Ye hai meri kahani
Khamosh zindagani
Sannata kah raha hai
Kyo zulm sah raha hai
Ek dastaan purani
Tanhai ki zubani
Har zakhm khil raha hai
Kuchh mujhse kah raha hai

Chubhte kaante yaado ke
Daaman se chunta hu
Girti deewaro ke
Aanchal me zinda hu
Bas ye meri kahani
Benisha nishani
Ek dard bah raha hai
Mujhse kuchh kah raha hai
Chubhte kaante yaado ke
Daaman se chunta hu
Girti deewaro ke
Aanchal me zinda hu

Bajai pyaar ki shabnam
Meri Gulistan me
Baraste rahte hai
Har simt Maut ke saye
Syahiyo se ulajh padti hai meri aankhe
Koi nahi, koi bhi nahi
Jo batlaye mai kitni der
Ujalo ki rah dekhunga
koi nahi, hai koi bhi nahi
Na paas, na door
Ek yaar hai dil ki dhadkan
Apni chahat ka jo elaan kiye jati hai
Zindagi hai jo jiye jaati hai
Khoon ke ghoont piye jati hai
Khwaab kaanto se siye jati hai

Ab na koi paas hai
Phir bhi ehsaas hai
Syahiyo me uljhi padi
Jeene ki ek aas hai

Yaado ka jungle ye dil
Kaanto se jal-thal ye dil
Chubhte kaante yaado ke
Daaman se chunta hu
Girti deewaro ke
Aanchal me zinda hu

Kya batayein ke jaan gai kaise
Phir se duhraien wo ghadi kaise

Kis ne raste mein chand rakha tha
Mujh ko thokar wahan lagi kaise

Waqt pe paaon kub rakha hum ne
Zindagi munh ke bal giri kaise

Aankh tu bhar gai thi paani se
Teri tasweer jal gai kaise

Hum tu ab yaad bhi nahi kerte
Aapko hitchki lag gai kaise

~Yaqeen~

Aaj dil dukha hai, Tum yaad aaye
Anjaan log hai, Apne kaha dhoondh paye

Jage hai, soye nahi
Aisi hai meri ye bechaini
Din bhi wahi,
raatein wahi
sanso me saanse hai nahi

Shaame ab dhalti nahi
Aanchal jo tera simat jaaye
Aap yaha hamesha rahe
Doori rahe na ho faasle

Ab agar tum mile to
Itna yaqeen hai
Has denge hum to,
Rona nahi hai!!!

Ajnabi Shaher....

Ajnabi shaher hai, ajnabi shaam hai
Zindagi ajnabi, kya tera naam hai
Ajeeb hai ye zindagi, ye zindagi ajeeb hai
ye milti hai bichhadti hai
Bichhad ke phir sambhalti hai
Ajnabi shaher hai, ajnabi shaam hai

Aapke baghair bhi hame, meethi lage udasiya
kya ye aapka, aapka kamaal hai
shayad aapko khabar nahi
Hil rahi hai paon ki zamee
Kya ye aapka, aapka khayaal hai
Ajnabi shaher mein, zindagi mil gayi
Ajeeb hai ye zindagi, ye zindagi ajeeb hai
Mai samjha tha qareeb hai ye auro ka naseeb hai

Ajnabi shaher hai, ajnabi shaam hai

Baat hai ye ek raat ki
Aap baadalon pe letey the
Hmm wo yaad hai, aapne bulaya tha
Sardi lag rahi thi aapko
Patli chandni lapete the
Aur shawl me khwab ke sulaya tha
Ajnabi hi sahi, saans mein sil gayi
Ajeeb hai ye zindagi, ye zindagi ajeeb hai
Meri nahi ye zindagi, raqeeb ka naseeb hai

Tere bin kaise jiya… kaise jiya tere bin

'Tere bin' is a song of a movie album "Bas Ek Pal" and I am thankful to my friend Shashank for sharing this song with me.
Now you might be thinking what drives me to write a blog about it. Well nothing specific reason as blog is the place where u can write anything, anytime.. just for time pass :) and people are complaining that I have not putted something since long.
'Tere Bin' song is sung by Atif Aslam, a Pakistani singer. He was part of a band called "JAL". His album "Adat" was a big hit. Mahesh Bhatt called him and recorded the song "Woh Lamhe" for his movie "Zaher" and I first heard his voice in the song "Woh Lamhe". He was very impressive in his Bollywood debut and it was a big hit.
But the song that made me his fan is "Ab to aadat si hai". It’s simply superb and I never tired of listening it repeatedly. The album has other good songs but this I consider the best one.

Now comes to his latest song 'Tere Bin'. I got this two days back and I can't stop myself listening it many times in a day. Its mind blowing and I first look for the lyricist and the composer and I have found both of them new to me (Sayeed Quadri & Mithoon). 'Tere Bin' belongs to a similar genre as "Woh Lamhe" & "Ab to aadat si hai" and creates a splash once again. Superbly composed by Mithoon with some excellent lyrics by Sayeed Quadri. I am looking forward to listen great composition by the duo and hope they are not just one time show.

'Tere Bin' is a song about separation with living life being exceedingly difficult without the company of your loved one; it has Atif bringing a lot of pain in his voice to create the desired effect. The music, lyrics and his voice, all seems to be so perfect and I think he has beautifully sung this song. I can’t think of anyone else for this song and I am sure this is going to be a major hit.
If it was a film by Bhatts, this song would have guaranteed a promotional music video. Also Emraan Hashmi would be regretting that he couldn't get a chance to sink his teeth into this track since it is simply tailor made for him!

Classic Poetry by Gulzar
Nazm uljhi hui hai seene mein
misare atke hue hain hothon par
udte-phirte hain titaliyon ki tarah
lafz kagaz pe baithte hi nahin

kab se baitha hoon main jaanam
saade kaagaz pe likhke naam tera
bas tera nam hi mukammal hai
isse behatar bhi nazm kya hogi
